ma+39 is Italian everyday living with a fresh and eclectic spin on the Italian mid century masters while integrating Almanza's custom pieces and "oggetti" from current and relevant talent. ma+39 offers a unique marriage of furnishings, lighting, art, and luxuries. Our showroom is a five thousand square foot gallery ranging from the mid 1600s to the mid 1900s as well as pieces from the 70s and 80s housed together in harmony. ma+39 is the collaboration of "maestri artigiani", the defined and the unearthed. And don't forget to schedule a private visit to the "magazzino" in industrial downtown Los Angeles!
Roman born Maurizio Almanza relocated to Los Angeles in 2002 and created Eccola. He has since shifted in a new and exciting direction both re-branding and reinventing himself. The result... ma+39. The "ma" is obvious. The +39? You'll have to come in and find out. (Hint: What's the country code for Italia?)
Maurizio often returns to his native Italy to hunt for unique and highly sought after treasures. In addition to his favorite mid century masterpieces, he's created his own chic line of magnifying glass tables and pendant lighting.
Almanza refers to his inventory as functional art.
ma+39 stocks extraordinary centuries-old pieces but also gives a whimsical nod to modern design. Contemporary and modern pieces have brought a new infusion of vitality, one that ma+39 showcases well.
