Faux Tortoiseshell Lucite Rectangular Box

A long, rectangular box crafted from lucite finished in a rich faux-tortoiseshell pattern, with mottled tones of amber, honey, and dark brown set beneath a glassy, high-gloss surface. The lid is fitted with a pair of brass butterfly hinges and a small round button-style clasp on the front edge. The interior of the lid shows warmer, more translucent honey-and-black mottling, while the base interior has a deeper reddish-brown tone. This tortoiseshell-effect lucite was a popular material for decorative boxes in the mid-20th century, prized for mimicking the look of genuine shell at a more accessible price point.
